Jake Woodruff

was born in Long Beach, California in 1990. He was raised by his mother, Gina an Entrepreneur, and has a younger brother Zack, a Chef. His greatest influences are Sam Cooke, James Taylor, The Beatles, The Temptations, Jim Croce and Smokey Robinson. As a child, Jake performed in musical theater and took guitar and violin lessons. At the same time, he was developing his talent in drawing and animation.  He once told his mother, "I don't understand why anyone would be satisfied with just being ordinary!"  Jake had plans to be as famous as Walt Disney. He spent countless hours and late nights in his room all through middle and high school creating characters and voices. While attending the Art Institute, Jake renewed his interest in learning to play the guitar and singing. He started singing at karaoke bars and busking on the streets. It suddenly occurred to him that as an Artist and Animator he was introverted.  On stage as a live performer, he decided he could open himself up and truly reach his potential.  Jake no longer wanted to merely live vicariously through the characters he created.  He chose to live his dreams. Jake began vocal lessons with voice coaches Jason Catron and Melissa Charsette and tools including Brett Manning instructional videos.  He learned the basic foundations of great songwriting from Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter DeeDee O'Malley.

Jake has performed for industry professionals and guests at the Celebrity Centre and the House of Blues in Hollywood CA.  While in Nashville in 2014, Jake performed his original song, I L.O.V.E. Y.O.U. at the Blue Bird Cafe as seen on the hit TV series Nashville. He performs his original songs and covers at various small venues and private parties around Long Beach. He also performs often at his family-owned venue, the Gina M Woodruff Gallery.  Jake entertains as a solo artist and also with a band with Erik Perez(guitar)  and Nick Sullivan(drums). Currently, Jake is writing and recording his original songs as an Independent Artist. He is open to representation in the future and other opportunities in the Entertainment Industry.
